Ros joined the Trust from RegenCo Sandwell where she was Chief Executive of the Urban Regeneration Company leading the regeneration of a highly deprived and complex industrial area centred on West Bromwich.

Ros trained originally as a lawyer and spent a period in private practice before joining the oil industry as an in-house lawyer. Ros then moved into general management and in 1990 was appointed to the UK Board of Gulf Oil, ultimately as Director of Business Services.

After a spell at Booker Group where she was responsible for Group Services worldwide as well as being heavily involved in the restructuring of the business, Ros moved to Network Rail (then Railtrack) in 2000 as Director of New Business. Promoted to Property Director in 2002 she ran Network Rail's substantial commercial property business.

Ros was appointed to her current role as Chief Executive in August 2006.

Formerly the Director of Regeneration Through Heritage (an initiative established by HRH The Prince of Wales), now within The Prince’s Regeneration Trust.

Fred qualified as a Town Planner and held posts with several English local authorities before moving to London Borough of Hackney, one of London’s most economically disadvantaged boroughs, where, as Assistant Chief Executive, he was responsible for Strategic Policy and Regeneration.

Fred has managed regeneration projects promoting the re-use of heritage buildings, primarily by assisting community partnerships to develop projects, and supports projects worth £60 million.

He has been a Board member of a major Housing Association, is Secretary of a voluntary advice centre in the multi-racial community of Brixton, and regularly writes and speaks on the regeneration of heritage industrial buildings.

He is the author of The Prince’s Regeneration Trust Handbook which advises on steps required to rescue a heritage building.

Rosie joins The Trust from Bidwells a firm of national property consultants. Having worked as a senior consultant providing professional services in feasibility studies, business planning and strategic asset reviews, she was subsequently promoted to a Divisional Partner leading on growing regeneration consultancy work for the firm. Rosie’s experience is key to the expansion of The Trust’s work. Rosie is a Member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors with 11 years surveying experience, has a BA (Hons) in History, a Masters in Land Economy and has recently completed an MBA

Peter joined the Trust in 2009.

He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1981 and following 7 years working in accountancy firms (Neville Russell and Coopers & Lybrand) he moved into industry and commerce where he held senior financial positions at Lex Service plc, Coca-Cola & Schweppes Beverages Ltd and Harrisons & Crosfield plc.

Over the last ten years he has been Group Finance Director of Regus plc, Numerica Group plc and Calyx Group plc. He was also Chief Executive of Numerica Group plc prior to the group being acquired by Vantis plc.

Peter has been a Council member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales since 2003. He was a member of its Audit Committee from 2003 to 2005 and is now a member of its Remuneration Committee.

Peter is also Honorary Treasurer of the charity YoungMinds.

Edward joined the Prince’s Regeneration Trust in 2006. He has extensive experience of heritage issues. He was formerly an Inspector of Historic Buildings with Cadw (the statutory heritage organisation for Wales), a Curator with the National Trust and has been advisor to several heritage organisations in Wales. Before joining the Trust he previously held the position of Conservation Manager for Monmouthshire County Council.

Following a successful career in housing associations where he commissioned many new build and refurbishment schemes and worked on pioneering mixed-use and regeneration initiatives, Roland took a sideways step into the restoration of historic buildings.

He has worked on a wide range of historic building projects, most with a regeneration aspect to them. These include the multi-award winning restoration of Hawksmoor’s Christ Church Spitalfields, and the regeneration of Shoreditch Town Hall as a self-sustaining community business, Hornsey Town Hall, Repton’s Cobham Park, Kent and development work for ICOMOS-UK.

Roland was an Exhibitioner at Oxford University, where he read PPE. More recently took an MSc in Historic Conservation (Distinction) from Oxford Brookes University, where he won the Jacqueline Porter Prize.

Roland has been a Full Member of the Institute for Fundraising since 1989 and has served on and Chaired the Conservation Areas Advisory Committee of two London Boroughs during periods of unprecedented development activity. He is a Trustee of the Twentieth Century Society and has a particular interest in twentieth century heritage.

Maria joined The Trust at the beginning of October 2007 from The Architectural Heritage Fund (AHF). A leading heritage figure in Scotland, Maria brings expertise in the management of heritage projects and development skills and will undertake a key role in The Trusts projects. Whilst at AHF Maria increased the number of Building Preservation Trusts from 99 in 1989 to over 270 to date.

Nick joined the Prince’s Regeneration Trust in August 2008. He has over fifteen years experience in the field of historic building conservation and heritage-led regeneration in both the private and public sectors. Nick previously held the post of Project Manager for the Walled City Townscape Heritage Initiative in Derry/Londonderry responsible for the implementation of a £5million programme to promote economic regeneration within the City. Nick is the present Chairman of the Institute of Historic Building Conservation, Northern Ireland Branch.

Nicola stared her career in marketing and communications roles for both Valpak and the Science Museum. She then moved to communications agency ‘Corporate Culture’ as a project manger where she worked on several environmental and corporate social responsibility campaigns. She later took on the role of PA to the CEO and Office Manager at the same company. Nicola is a History and Politics Graduate from Keele University.

Paul is well qualified in heritage matters having spent the majority of the last 10 years in higher education. He graduated from Manchester University with a BA (Hons) in Classical Civilization, and has completed both a Master of Studies in Anthropological Archaeology and a D. Phil at The University of Oxford. His doctoral research investigated heritage management strategies in local government, focusing on the case studies of the towns of Arles and Nîmes in southern France. Paul comes to The Prince's Regeneration Trust with good experience of working for the heritage sector, having written a report on planning consultations for Heritage Link. Last summer he completed a cultural pilgrimage by walking across Europe from London to Istanbul.

Faye has recently joined The Prince's Regeneration Trust as Fundraising Manager. Prior to this Faye has spent seven years in various fundraising and development roles within charitable organisations, most recently as Head of Special Projects at The Institute of Cancer Research. Faye is a member of The Institute of Fundraising, has a BA (Hons) in Geography from Sheffield University, and is currently studying an MBA at Westminster University.

Ruth graduated from the University of Bristol in 2007 with a Masters degree in English Literature and then joined the Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) through the Civil Service’s graduate Fast Stream. Ruth’s previous job in Defra was working on the Marine and Coastal Access Act 2009 as it went through Parliament.

Ruth has been seconded to work for The Prince's Regeneration Trust through the Charity Next Scheme. This scheme helps civil servants to get hands on experience of what it is like to work in the third sector and to take that experience back with them to the civil service.

Gemma graduated from The University of Nottingham reading Art History and English in 2004. East Hampshire District Council employed Gemma as an Administration Assistant within The Planning and Policy department where she assisted the Head of Planning and Senior Planning Officers. In 2005 Gemma moved to be the Principal Administrator for Heritage at the council. Here she was first point of contact for public and private enquiries into Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas.

Since joining The Prince's Regeneration Trust at the end of 2005, Gemma has spent over two years in the Projects Team, responsible for the coordination of three Projects Advisors, the Projects Director and over 25 projects across the UK. From there she has undertaken research into sustainability and the historic enviromnent and grant funding as Projects Executive. She is now using her knowledge and experience of The Trust to facilitate its Marketing activities as Communications Executive. Gemma is also studying part-time for an MSc in Building Surveying at London South Bank University.

Sophie supports eight of The Prince's Charities as HR Advisor, and has been working with The Prince's Regeneration Trust since January 2007. She previously worked at business research consultancy FreshMinds in various positions, including HR Manager and Operations Manager.

Sophie has an MA in Psychology from The University of Edinburgh and the CIPD qualification.

Kit Martin has spent a lifetime conserving historic buildings. He has rescued and restored a series of major country houses in England and Scotland. He has been called “Britain’s leading Country House Doctor”. Adapting these buildings for several families to live in while respecting their character inside and out and preserving the large gardens and landscapes around them. Several schemes have won local, national or European awards.

He has also initiated the rescue and conversion of a number of redundant and sometimes derelict ex-military or industrial buildings of outstanding architectural/historic interest including the Royal Naval Hospital, Norfolk.

He was the first Director of The Prince of Wales’s Phoenix Trust from 1997 to 2001 and is currently Projects Consultant to the Prince’s Regeneration Trust, playing a key role in innovative solutions to save major historic buildings at risk and promote urban regeneration, as at Anchor Mills, Paisley.

Kit Martin was a member of the Historic Buildings Council for Scotland from 1987 to 1999. He is a Trustee of Save Europe’s Heritage. He was trained as an architect and is an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects.

Kit Martin has been involved in a number of publications with Save Britain’s Heritage and lectures include the HHA Smiths Gore Lecture.

Alan Swales is a Chartered Surveyor with over 35 years experience, much of it in the field of regeneration. After an early career in local government Alan became the Chief Executive of the Lace Market Development Co. Ltd in 1988. This was a pioneering public/private partnership established to bring about the regeneration of Nottingham’s decaying historic quarter. During that time Alan established the Lace Market Heritage Trust, involving local business leaders, to work alongside the Company in rejuvenating this long neglected area. The successful transformation of the Lace Market was recognised in a number of national awards and was identified in the Urban Task Force report as an outstanding example of heritage lead regeneration.

Alan helped to set up Nottingham Regeneration Limited in 1998 to carry on the success of that area across the whole of the Greater Nottingham. As a partnership involving the local authority, English Partnerships, East Midlands Development Agency and the private sector, the Company became the model for the Urban Regeneration Companies which were subsequently established across the UK.

At the end of 2006 Alan stepped down from his role as Chief Executive of Nottingham Regeneration Limited to set up his own consultancy. Alan Swales was awarded the MBE for services to regeneration in 2002.
