Rathfriland Market House
Restoring an attractive 18th Century building in a rural market village in County Down
This fantastic old Market House in a small town is in the heart of County Down. It was built around 1770 as the centre of Rathfriland’s economy and has been underused for a number of years.
The Market House Development Association wishes to carry out a full refurbishment to convert it into to small business units on the ground floor, and community accommodation on the upper floor. Bringing the Market House back into use will make it a vibrant community and commercial space once again, at the heart of an economically depressed area. PRT is helping them to decide on the appropriate ownership mechanism for the Market House, so that they can be fully prepared for the challenges and responsibilities involved with the building.
This project is supported by The Prince's Regeneration Trust through the BRICK mentoring programme.
