the Green Guide for Historic Buildings Second Edition, The Prince's Regeneration Trust

New edition of 'The Green Guide for Historic Buildings' published

The Prince’s Regeneration Trust (PRT) is delighted to announce the publication of a new edition of our influential guidebook on how to restore and maintain historic buildings in ways that benefit the environment.

The Second Edition of 'The Green Guide for Historic Buildings' brings together practical advice on tackling climate change through the refurbishment and conversion of all types of heritage buildings across the UK. With accessible information requiring no previous knowledge or expertise and case studies to illustrate best practice, the eco-friendly guide is suitable for anyone wanting to refurbish, restore or re-use a traditional building.

The book includes solutions for both saving energy and generating it from renewable sources, whilst conserving the significance of the building. It explains how to proceed with the work, including obtaining statutory permissions and funding, finding suppliers, and knowing what questions to ask.

In his foreward to the Green Guide, our Founder, HRH The Prince of Wales, says: “I firmly believe that this guide will enable all those who care about the environment in which they live to navigate what can be complex and technical subject and empower them to find the right long-term solutions for their important historic buildings.”

The book can be purchased from the TSO Shop.  An online resource accompanies this guide featuring useful links, additional case studies, and more in-depth information on a number of topics. It can be found on the PRT website at www.princes-regeneration.org/green-guide-online.
