BRICK Roadshow comes to Newcastle in first North East visit

The Prince’s Regeneration Trust's BRICK roadshow is coming to the North East for the first time ever to help the region’s communities save the buildings they love.

The leading regeneration charity will be hosting its 17th BRICK workshop at Live Theatre in Newcastle (pictured, above) on Thursday 7th January from 9.30am to 4.30pm.

The event aims to provide expert advice and support to community groups and not-for-profit organisations that are involved in heritage-led regeneration projects across the North East.

PRT will be supported by the workshop hosts, Live Theatre, local heritage group the Tyne and Wear Building Preservation Trust and Newcastle City Council, who will all speak about their restoration work in the city and wider region.

This is the BRICK team’s first visit to both Newcastle and the North East since its three-year roadshow began in May 2014.

The speakers include:

  • Ian Ayris, Historic Environment Manager, Newcastle City Council, on the role of councils in supporting heritage regeneration projects
  • Debbie Lamb, Development Manager, Locality, on community rights
  • Gavin Richards, Operations Manager, Architectural Heritage Fund (AHF), on the financial and technical support available from AHF
  • Martin Hulse, Tyne and Wear Building Preservation Trust, on the key heritage regeneration projects in the region

The workshop, which includes a tour of the venue, can be booked by calling 020 3262 0560, or going to: http://brick-work.org/events/workshop-17-newcastle-7-january-2016/
