Middleport Pottery, home of Burleigh, is now an exciting visitor destination in the heart of Burslem, the Mother Town of the potteries. This Grade II* listed site was purpose-built in 1888 by ceramics manufacturers Burgess & Leigh who moved their business there. What makes Middleport Pottery unique is that it has remained in continuous production, making the same product – Burleigh – since it was built.

Learn all about Middleport Pottery, home of Burleigh, as you explore its unique visitor experience. See pottery produced over the years and the original Victorian offices. Step back in time as you explore the largest mould collection in Europe, the bottle kiln, and Burleigh gallery, and learn about the people and events which have shaped the Pottery. Afterwards you can relax in our café which overlooks the Trent and Mersey Canal. There are also special events and exhibitions throughout the year, see the events page for details.
