Middleport Pottery scoops top European heritage award

The Prince's Regeneration Trust is delighted to announce that Middleport Pottery has won a Europa Nostra Award, Europe’s most prestigious heritage prize.

The Pottery is one of 28 projects from 15 countries, chosen from a total of 263 applications, to receive a 2015 European Union Prize for Cultural Heritage/ Europa Nostra Award.

The victory is Middleport Pottery’s third prize in the last six weeks, having recently won two national awards - a Civic Trust AABC Conservation Award for building conservation excellence and a Placemaking Award for the best use of heritage in place-making.

Middleport Pottery was one of just two projects in the UK to receive a Europa Nostra Award in the conservation category, alongside a new visitor centre at Stonehenge, Wiltshire.

Run by the European Commission and Europa Nostra, the European federation of heritage non-governmental organisations, the awards are given to schemes that make outstanding achievements in conservation, research, service to heritage and education and training.
