Why not banish those back-to-school blues by making the most of a free open day at Middleport Pottery? It takes place on Saturday, 12th September, from 11am-3pm and is part of the national Heritage Open Days festival.
Visitors can get exclusive behind the scenes access to the Pottery, including a close-up look of the Victorian steam engine that used to power the factory and is now the subject of a major restoration appeal. There will also be poetry recitals by Stoke-based poetry group City Voices, £1 family craft workshops and competitions.
Heritage Open Days is a four-day festival celebrating England's local history that gives access to thousands of places usually closed to the public.
